Tragic Fire Kills 17 Almajiri Students, Injures 16 in Zamfara

A devastating fire has claimed the lives of 17 Almajiri students and left 16 others injured at an Islamiyya school in Kauran Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The fire, which broke out on Tuesday night at Makarantar Mallam Ghali, raged for over three hours before firefighters managed to extinguish it.

According to a resident, Abdurrazak Bello Kaura, the fire originated from an abandoned flame left burning by the Qur’anic students, who used sticks known as ‘Kara’ during their usual night gathering for recitation. Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Kaura-Namoda Local Government, Comrade Mannir Mu’azu Haidara, assured that the local government council would provide necessary support to the school, the injured, and the families of the deceased victims.
