Troops of 1 Brigade, Sector 2 Joint Task Force North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have dealt a significant blow to terrorists in Zamfara State, neutralizing scores of militants, including the notorious kingpin Sani Rusu, and recovering arms.
According to a statement released by Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Center, the operation occurred on January 4, 2025, during a fighting patrol to Bamamu Village in Tsafe Local Government Area (LGA). The troops encountered the terrorists, neutralizing Rusu and destroying their enclaves while seizing a cache of weapons.
In a separate operation, the troops conducted an ambush at Kwanar Jollof in Shinkafi LGA, neutralizing additional terrorists and recovering one AK-47 rifle, one G3 rifle, ammunition, and motorcycles.
Further supporting the ground forces, the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma carried out successful airstrikes on December 30, 2024, targeting terrorists in the Fakai and Kware areas of Shinkafi LGA.
