Trump Begins Presidency with Mass Firings, Warns of Further Dismissals

Trump

On his first full day in office, U.S. President Donald Trump fired four senior government officials appointed by his predecessor and warned that “over a thousand more” could face dismissal as part of a sweeping shake-up of federal personnel. Trump announced the firings Tuesday morning in his inaugural post on Truth Social, signaling his intent to swiftly realign the government with his administration’s priorities.

“My Presidential Personnel Office is actively in the process of identifying and removing over a thousand Presidential Appointees from the previous Administration, who are not aligned with our vision to Make America Great Again,” Trump wrote.

Among those immediately dismissed were Jose Andres from the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition; Mark Milley from the National Infrastructure Advisory Council; Brian Hook from the Wilson Center for Scholars; and Keisha Lance Bottoms from the President’s Export Council.

“Let this serve as Official Notice of Dismissal for these 4 individuals, with many more coming soon,” Trump declared, ending his statement with his iconic catchphrase: “YOU’RE FIRED!”

The move is seen as the first step in a broader overhaul of government personnel, as Trump prepares to implement his campaign promises to streamline the civil service, restructure key agencies, and possibly eliminate some departments. Trump’s actions echo his first term in office, during which he frequently clashed with career officials and removed individuals he deemed obstacles to his agenda. Government institutions now brace for further disruptions as the president executes his vision for a revamped federal workforce.
