Thai authorities arrested two Nigerian men in Phuket for reckless and irresponsible driving following a high-speed automobile chase on Tuesday night, March 11, 2025. The arrest was in response to Facebook complaints against a white sedan performing reckless stunts in what seemed like an effort to mimic Fast and Furious film stunts.
About 10:30 p.m., a well-known local Facebook page and police radio reported to Muang Phuket police that a vehicle was behaving recklessly between Koh Kaew Intersection and Dara Samut Intersection in Muang district.
The video, which was posted to the Hode Jung Phuket (Cruel Phuket) page, watched as the car traveled at least five roundabout turns in the center of Koh Kaew Intersection, its tires screaming loudly before speeding off toward Dara Samut Intersection.
The incident reportedly was seen by a traffic police officer stationed at Thalang police station, who also attempted to chase the car but failed to pursue it as it sped toward the Phuket bypass road. After the report, Muang police commander Pol Col Chatree Chukaew dispatched patrol teams to locate the white Mazda.
Police later saw the car in Soi Koh Kaew 23, but the driver sped away when officers were coming near, leading to another pursuit that ended up at a dead-end in Soi Nana Chart 2. With no where to run, the two suspects abandoned the car and ran on foot into a heavily forested area.
They were pursued and eventually subdued by police despite resisting, leaving them with minor injuries as well as the suspects. Police explained that both men appeared drunk and did not speak much English.
When police officers arrived at Muang police station, one of the suspects was named Anamere George, a Nigerian citizen with a warrant of arrest issued on August 21, 2023, by the Phuket Provincial Court for illegal entry and possession of cocaine.
The name of the second suspect is verified while investigation is being carried out.
