Uche Maduagwu Publicly Apologizes to Rita Edochie, Hails Her as the “Shining Light” of the Family

Nollywood thespian Uche Maduagwu has taken to Instagram to tender a public apology to veteran actress Rita Edochie after first condemning her, having professed that he had uttered out of turn.

In making his apology, Uche owned up to his mistakes and testified that even great men such as King Solomon were wrong, affirming that the test of strength is to acknowledge one’s error and ask for forgiveness.

Aunty Rita, for everything I had said against you. Even King Solomon, to whom God gave all of his wisdom, continued to make mistakes. That we are strong is that we are capable of admitting we made a mistake and be humble enough to apologize,” he said.

The troubled actor went on to shower Rita Edochie with praises, calling her a “rare gem” and a light in the Edochie family.

“Any family goes get light like you… She’s a shining light wey dey make darkness run kitikata. She has a good heart, no darkness fit stay where she stays because she is a light in that family,” he added further.

Along with his message, Uche sent along a picture of Rita and had captioned it:

Aunty Rita, you are a great light wey dey make darkness run kitikata.”

The apology comes after weeks of public melodrama, during which outspoken Uche had made public jabs at the actress in some of his prior social media posts. His change of tone has been taken by fans as a welcome show of humility, with many appreciating him for burying the hatchet.

Rita Edochie, widely perceived as a mother figure in Nollywood, has made a name for herself as a determined individual and a devout believer in religion and family. Her level-headed response to adverse comments over the years has earned her friends among her colleagues and movie enthusiasts.

Uche’s apology is already evoking reactions on the internet, with several of his fans praising him for daring to make amends with an elder colleague.
