Nigerian rapper Olanrewaju Ogunmefun David, popularly known as Vector Tha Viper, has revealed that he shares a family connection with the legendary highlife musician, Stephen Oladipupo Olaore Owomoyela, better known as Orlando Owoh.
Vector made this revelation while responding to a trending post on X (formerly Twitter), where users were invited to share something remarkable about their family history or ancestors.
An X user, @Yorubaness, posed the question:
“Tell us something great about your family history or ancestors.”
Joining the conversation, Vector responded, “My mum and Orlando Owoh are related.”
His statement excited many fans, with some encouraging him to explore the rich musical legacy of the late highlife legend.

The Legacy of Orlando Owoh
Orlando Owoh was a prominent Nigerian highlife musician who began his career as a drummer with the Kola Ogunmola Theatre Group in 1958. By 1960, he had formed his own band, Dr. Orlando Owoh and His Omimah Band. Over four decades, he became one of the most influential figures in highlife music.
He later established two more bands, Young Kenneries and The African Kenneries International, and released over 45 albums during his career.
Orlando Owoh passed away on November 4, 2008, and was buried at his residence in Agege, Lagos. His music continues to inspire generations of Nigerian artists.
