Legendary Nollywood actor and comedian Nkem Owoh, popularly known as Osuofia, is celebrating his 70th birthday today. The iconic entertainer, who played a major role in shaping the childhoods of many Nigerians with his hilarious performances, took to his X account on Friday to express gratitude for reaching this milestone in good health.
“Hurray, I’m 70 years today,” he wrote.
Nkem Owoh has featured in numerous films, including the classic Osuofia in London, which earned him his famous nickname. Other notable movies in his career include Stronger Than Pain, Ikuku, and many more. Over the years, he has received several accolades, including:
- Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) for his stellar performance in Stronger Than Pain.
- AMAA Lifetime Achievement Award at the 13th edition of the ceremony.
Beyond acting, Owoh has also made his mark in brand endorsements. In 2012, he signed a multimillion-naira deal with MTN, a partnership that has been repeatedly renewed.
