Yobe Police Assure Specialist Hospital Staff of Protection After Attack on Worker’s Wife

The Yobe State Police Command has pledged stronger collaboration and enhanced security for the staff of the State Specialist Hospital, Potiskum, following the violent attack on the wife of one of the hospital’s workers on November 26, 2025. The woman was stabbed by unidentified criminals who broke into the residential quarters of staff members in the early hours of the morning.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the hospital’s management formally reported the incident in a letter with Ref. No. YSSH/GEN/169, submitted at about 1:20 pm on November 26. The report revealed that the attackers trespassed into the quarters around 2 am and stabbed the victim in the stomach with a sharp object before stealing her mobile phone, an Infinix Smart 5 containing her SIM card.

Further investigation showed that the stolen SIM card was later used to send a threatening message to another female staff member, warning that the attackers had “finished with her Oga” and that she and another colleague were next. Police immediately responded to the distress report, and the injured woman was taken to the hospital, where she was receiving treatment.

SP Abdulkarim confirmed that investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest those behind the attack. The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, strongly condemned the incident and called on the public to remain calm while cooperating with law enforcement by providing timely and credible information.

The Police Command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of residents across the state. It urged community members to secure their homes, stay vigilant especially at night and promptly report any suspicious activities.

Residents were also advised not to ignore threats or unusual messages but to alert the police immediately. For emergencies or to provide information, the public was encouraged to contact the nearest police division or call 07036143593.
