The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has officially withdrawn the arrest warrant issued against Ezekiel Onyedikachi, popularly known as Eezee Tee, the former manager of renowned gospel artist Mercy Chinwo. The warrant had been issued by Justice Alexander Owoeye last week after an ex parte motion filed by the EFCC. However, during a court session on Friday, the EFCC’s legal representative, Bilikisu Buhari, requested the withdrawal of the warrant.
The case stems from allegations by Mercy Chinwo, who accused Eezee Tee of diverting $345,000 in royalties from her digital platforms and events. The dispute gained public attention after Chinwo took legal action against her former manager. In response, Eezee Tee refuted the claims in an Instagram post, accusing the gospel singer of breaching their contract and labeling her as ungrateful.
The decision to withdraw the arrest warrant followed an appeal by Eezee Tee’s legal counsel, who argued that their client was unaware of the initial court summons. The legal team assured the court that Eezee Tee would voluntarily attend future proceedings. The EFCC agreed to the withdrawal of the warrant on the condition that Eezee Tee would comply with all future court requirements. Justice Owoeye subsequently adjourned the case to February 14, 2025, for Eezee Tee’s arraignment.
