A former member of the House of Representatives and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, USA Igwesi, has commended Governor Peter Mbah for what he described as unprecedented achievements in Enugu State, adding that stakeholders of the entire Enugu East Senatorial District are united to give him a second term in 2027.
Igwesi, a former Majority Leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly, said Governor Mbah has exceeded expectations within just two years in office, making Enugu a model state and benchmark among Nigerian governors.
“Remember what took place at the recent NBA Conference in Enugu,” Igwesi recalled. “Senator Dino Melaye, while commending Mbah, even requested that he organize training for his fellow senators from other states. Many believed he was joking, but he was dead serious.”
Igwesi indicated that Mbah has touched all areas education, health, infrastructure, tourism, transport, and security and resuscitated dead state assets like the Hotel Presidential, Nike Lake Resort, Niger Gas, and the International Conference Centre.
He commended the governor’s allocation of 33% of the state’s annual budget to education, construction of 260 Smart Green Schools and 260 Primary Healthcare Centres with staff quarters in each ward, aside from security and infrastructure development.
“Enugu is indeed rising,” Igwesi pointed out, adding that Mbah’s achievements have turned him into a movement in the state, in a way that even the opposition looks up to him.
On Sunday, opinion leaders and individuals of Enugu East Senatorial District, cutting across political parties, formally adopted Mbah as their sole candidate for the 2027 governorship election and cautioned politicians not to waste their resources contesting against him.
