Former Senator Haliru Jika Backs Bold2Green Bauchi Campaign to Mobilise 2.5m Eco-Volunteers

Incumbent Bauchi Central Senator Alhaji Haliru Jika has added his voice of endorsement to the Bold2Green Bauchi Campaign, a lofty mandate of recruiting 2.53 million green citizen volunteers for 253 wards in the state.

Drawing inspiration from the Eco2Ruppers Africa Project, the campaign seeks to position Bauchi at the center of Nigeria’s green economy revolution. Jika characterized the endeavor as a model of state action on climate that will bring people and government together, provide jobs for youth, and initiate a strong green economy.

Victor Agih, Program Director of Eco2Ruppers Africa, said the 100-week project aligns with Nigeria’s national priorities and global sustainability goals. He explained that the campaign will transform Bauchi’s socio-economic and environmental landscape through tree planting, clean energy adoption, youth-led eco-enterprises, and cultural heritage festivals.

“This is about turning numbers into impact,” Agih emphasized. “Two and a half million volunteers, green jobs, and millions of trees are a promise to future generations that Bauchi will be the pace-setter in courage and ingenuity in the fight for a sustainable tomorrow.”

Program Director Mr. Reel Ime further elucidated how Bold2Green Bauchi prioritizes the contribution of each ward, community, and citizen towards building a sustainable future, underlining that local action is the cornerstone of lasting climate solutions.
