Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has revealed that 7,688 poor rural residents in the state’s 10 federal constituencies have been taken out of poverty by his government under a ₦10 billion empowerment scheme.
Discussing the grand finale of Etinan Federal Constituency Town Square Meeting/Empowerment Series, the governor explained that the scheme, which commenced six months ago, provided grants and incentives in key areas of agriculture, commerce, equipment support, vehicles, and mini buses.
At the ceremony in his home town, Nsit Ubium Local Government Secretariat, Ikot Edibon, Governor Eno made known that 844 people from Etinan Federal Constituency alone have enjoyed empowerment packages worth ₦361.4 million.
He added that all the beneficiaries were selected via the state’s ARISE platform, and appealed to the people, especially the youths, to make use of the portal.
