British thespian Idris Elba has called Lagos the “most amazing city” in the world, talking about his experience filming Dust to Dreams in Nigeria’s frenetic commercial hub.
In a chat with etalk TV on the red carpet of the just-ended TIFF Tribute Awards, Elba said his Lagos encounter provided him with “a wealth of incredible memories” and deep admiration for the city’s effervescent creativity.
“Lagos, if you’ve never been, is the most amazing city in the world. I had a fantastic time. The talent there is amazing,” he shared with us.
The award-winning actor said one of his highlights was watching British singer Seal, who has Nigerian heritage, perform while adopting his Nigerian accent. Elba described collaborating with Seal as “a real blessing.”
He also detailed the emotional impact of a special performance by Seal and Nigerian musician Konstance, who collaborated on an original song for the film.
“One of the big standout moments is this really amazing song that we wrote for the film, and they performed it at the end. Seal and a lovely artiste called Konstance, it was incredible,” Elba said.
