NYO Honours Brig. Gen. Igwe Patrick Omoke with National Youth Merit Award

The Nigeria Youth Organisation (NYO) has conferred its highest National Youth Merit Award on Brigadier General Igwe Patrick Omoke for his outstanding service to national security and youth development.

The presentation of the award, which occurred in Abuja yesterday as part of the 2025 International Youth Day celebration dinner activities, was the high point of the event.

NYO president, Comrade Okorie C. Okorie, said that Gen. Omoke was selected for the honour after a meticulous consideration of his meritorious service to the nation and commitment to youth empowerment. He described the awardee as a patriot and duty-bound officer who has committed his life to the service of the fatherland.

Also speaking at the event, chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, described Gen. Omoke as one of Nigeria’s most educated and dedicated military officers, adding that despite this, he has remained humble and ever willing to oblige.

Responding with an acceptance speech, Gen. Omoke appreciated the NYO for the award, urging young Nigerians to stay focused, disciplined, and hardworking in pursuit of their goals.

“If I can make it, you too can make it,” he encouraged.

The well-attended event had in attendance NYO leaders from all 36 states and the FCT, and representatives of key institutions, including the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
