The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 26 suspects allegedly involved in the possession of counterfeit currency and the production and sale of adulterated diesel to unsuspecting motorists in the Eti-Osa and Lekki areas of Lagos.

According to a statement released on the Command’s official X handle by spokesperson SP Abimbola Adebisi, the coordinated operation conducted alongside officials of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) took place on November 27, 2025, around 1:30 p.m.

During the raid, operatives recovered ₦951,300 in fake banknotes from the suspects’ hideout. Investigators also uncovered an illegal operation where adulterated engine oil and diesel, popularly known as “rice and beans,” were being produced and sold.

Four suspects Abubakar Rilean (40), Abubakar Abdullahi (35), Adamu Ibrahim Jora (35), and Michael John (30) were identified as key figures in the illicit fuel production and distribution ring. Two others, Ichapi Moses (30) and Samson Adike (28), were allegedly responsible for supplying the adulterated petroleum products within the community.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, warned those engaging in criminal activities across Lagos that the Command was intensifying its crackdown on offenders.

“Anyone found engaging in acts that endanger public peace, damage vehicles, or threaten economic stability will face the full weight of the law,” he cautioned.

Reassuring residents of their safety, CP Jimoh said the Command maintains firm control over the state’s security environment, adding: “There is no room for criminals or their unlawful activities. The safety and well-being of all residents remain our top priority.”

The Command also urged members of the public to support security efforts by providing credible and timely information to aid in preventing crime and apprehending perpetrators.
