Rep. Mansur Soro Empowers 100 Youths, Women with Skills Training in Bauchi

Bauchi Governor

Member representing Darazo-Ganjuwa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mansur Soro, empowered 100 youths and women with livelihood skills in a bid towards self-sufficiency and poverty reduction in Bauchi State.

The initiative, organized in partnership with Westgate and Stones Integrated Limited and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), trained rural residents from Darazo and Ganjuwa LGAs.

Originally designed for 45 beneficiaries, the programme was scaled up to 100 at the behest of Hon. Soro to cover more residents. The training was targeted at owners of small businesses, including kiosk owners, POS agents, hairdressers, tailors, and petty traders.

Programme facilitator Joshua Vincent stated that each of the beneficiaries would have a registered business name and receive a stipend to establish or solidify their business.

Beneficiaries appreciated, describing the intervention as life-changing. Sufiyanu Ibrahim, a proprietor of a small pharmaceutical shop, said that the support would help youths to grow their businesses and avoid dependency.

Similarly, Aisha Inuwa, a textile trader, applauded the inclusion of women, saying that it would help boost their independence and enable them to cater to their families.
