Armed bandits have adopted a new stealth strategy to successfully abduct former NYSC Director-General, Brigadier-General Maharazu Tsiga (rtd.), from his residence last week, avoiding confrontation with security forces and vigilante groups. According to sources, the assailants executed the operation silently, with Brig.-Gen. Tsiga voluntarily opening the door and exchanging pleasantries before being informed, “We came to take you.” He even requested to pick up his cap before leaving with them.
Despite being a trained military officer with access to a firearm, Tsiga did not resist, which could have triggered a response from the local vigilantes and Radda boys stationed nearby. The abduction was so discreet that people at a nearby tea joint remained unaware.
Security Forces Respond, Bandits Demand N250M
Following the abduction, the Nigerian Army launched a major offensive, blocking all possible escape routes and preventing the kidnappers from moving Tsiga out of the country. While authorities have yet to issue an official statement, reports indicate that the bandits are demanding N250 million ransom for his release. Security forces are intensifying efforts to rescue the retired general and dismantle the criminal network behind his abduction.
