Tinubu Seeks Senate Confirmation of Bosun Tijani as Chairman of USPF Board

President Bola Tinubu asked the Senate to confirm the appointment of Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, as chairman of the board of the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF).

Tinubu, in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Wednesday’s plenary, clarified that the nomination was pursuant to Section 116 of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Act of 2003.

“As in line with the provision of Section 116 of the NCC Act 2003, I have the pleasure to present for ratification by the Senate, the appointment of the following eight persons as chairman and members of the board of the Universal Service Provision Fund,” the letter stated.

The nominees are Idris Olorunimbe (vice-chairman), Abraham Oshidami, Rimini Makama, Aliyu Edogi Aliyu for and on behalf of the Ministry of Communications, Joseph B. Faluyi for and on behalf of the Ministry of Finance, Auwal Mohammed for and on behalf of the Ministry of Budget and National Planning, Uzoma Dozie, Peter Bankole, Abayomi Anthony Okanlawon, and Gafar Oluwasegun Quadri.

President Tinubu requested that the Senate expedite consideration and approval for the nominees.

Senate President Akpabio reacted by sending the nominations to the Senate Communications Committee and requesting the committee to screen the appointments and report back to him in one week.
