Victor Boniface’s Al Nassr Move Collapses as Club Opts for Jhon Duran

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface will not be making a switch to Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr after the club decided to sign Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran instead. Al Nassr, who had been in negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen for Boniface, opted to pursue the Colombian forward in a €77 million deal, including add-ons, effectively ending talks for the Nigerian international.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, discussions for Boniface had been progressing well, with a Saudi delegation in Germany since Monday to finalize terms. Leverkusen, the reigning Bundesliga champions, had valued the 24-year-old at around €50 million. Boniface, who joined Leverkusen from Union Saint-Gilloise in 2023 for €20 million, recently signed a contract extension until 2029, solidifying his status as one of the club’s top earners.

However, Al Nassr ultimately chose to move in a different direction. Jhon Duran, 21, has reportedly agreed to personal terms with the Saudi club and is expected to sign a long-term contract. His medical is scheduled for Thursday, January 30, after which he will officially join Al Nassr, linking up with stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane.
