Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Plateau State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to receive a wave of defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other political groups in the state.
To this end, the party has inaugurated a high-powered committee led by Arc Pam Dung Gyang to coordinate the reception of the new entrants.
Speaking during a stakeholder meeting in Jos, APC National Chairman, Professor Yilwatda Nentawe, revealed that Vice President Kashim Shettima will officially welcome the defectors, many of whom are prominent political figures in Plateau State.
Among those joining the ruling party are former Senator representing Plateau North, Barr. Istifanus Gyang; former Political Adviser to Governor Caleb Mutfwang, Hon. Latep Dabang; and former Secretary of the Rehabilitation and Resettlement Committee for IDPs, Brigadier-General John Sura (rtd), along with their supporters.
Meanwhile, both the APC and PDP in the state have continued to witness a string of resignations by key members, many of whom cited disillusionment and a lack of confidence in the existing party structures.
