Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has fixed November 20 for judgment in the terrorism case filed by the federal government against the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
The date was set on Friday after Kanu declined to open his defense, maintaining his stance in previous proceedings.
Earlier in the day, Kanu filed a motion challenging the validity of his trial, arguing that terrorism was no longer an offence under Nigerian law. He claimed that the Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Act, under which he was charged, had been repealed and therefore, the charges against him lacked legal basis.
