The Edo State Police Command has arrested a man, identified as Tega Best, for allegedly staging his own kidnapping in a bid to extort money from his family. According to reports, the incident took place in Okhue community, Esan South East Local Government Area.

After Tega’s supposed “abduction,” his accomplices contacted his family, demanding an undisclosed ransom for his release.

However, the police were alerted and launched an investigation, which led to the arrest of Tega. Further inquiries revealed that he had orchestrated the entire scheme with the aim of collecting money from his parents.

Confirming the incident, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Moses Yamu, stated that the suspect remains in police custody and will be charged in court once the investigation is concluded.
