Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has come out to debunk claims by social media campaigner Verydarkman that she retracted an apology to singer Naira Marley and promoter Sam Larry.
The allegations came after a meeting that was purportedly called by the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF NCCC), with Naira Marley, Sam Larry, Iyabo Ojo, co-actress Tonto Dikeh, and their legal representatives. Verydarkman claimed Iyabo had committed to issuing an open apology for linking the two to the 2023 death of singer Mohbad but later went back.
In a scorching retort in an impromptu session on TikTok, Iyabo lashed at the activist, calling him manipulative, deceitful, and hell-bent on discrediting her.
“So you had to step out and do your usual manipulating trick. I’m a very smart woman. I’m not like you that’s so deceitful and corny. You’ve tried with all your might to knock me down, but you cannot,” she grouse.
The actress explained that she initially made her claims against Naira Marley and Sam Larry based on horrifying online videos and updates after Mohbad’s passing.
“I used to promote Naira Marley’s songs until Mohbad died. I viewed a video of Naira Marley dancing after Mohbad died, I was angry,” she revealed.
Iyabo also referenced an incident of what seems to be Sam Larry confronting Mohbad and Zlatan Ibile as the turning point that prompted her to cling to the bullying claims against the late singer.
“Enough is enough, and I take my responsibility seriously as a citizen,” she also stated, clarifying why she continued to speak up despite the criticism.
The actress insisted that her actions were motivated by mercy and justice and not malice and falsehood.
