The key stakeholders of Lagos State’s All Progressives Congress (APC) have officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term prior to his potential re-election in 2027.

The support was done during the APC Stakeholders’ Forum 2025, held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. The event attracted thousands of party loyalists, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, a former governor, Babatunde Fashola, and a fellow former governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and his wife, Oluremi, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, as well as members of the APC National and State Working Committees.

The traditional monarchs, youth representatives, women’s groups, and politicians were also present.

The Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, on behalf of stakeholders and Lagos traditional rulers, tabled the motion for backing President Tinubu, seconded by Speaker Mudashiru Obasa upon the adoption by those present, unanimously.

We are standing behind the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to pursue a second term,” Oba Shotobi said, as Obasa said, “Now that all the stakeholders have tabled their submissions, I hereby seconded the motion on behalf of the people of Lagos State.”

Lagos Governor Sanwo-Olu, in his address, praised Tinubu’s legacy and leadership, referring to him as a visionary leader who has established reforms that have paved the way for national development. “Our president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, once filled the office of the 12th governor of Lagos State. Today, stakeholders in every sector have all collectively embraced him for another term. We hope this voice will reach the Aso Rock and be heard in every corner of the country,” he declared.

Deputy Governor Hamzat repeated the call for continuity, applauding Tinubu’s reform agenda and efforts at economic recovery. “As dedicated members of the APC family in Lagos State, we endorse and support his leadership at the federal level for a second term,” he stated.

Defunct Governor Babatunde Fashola, who was a keynote speaker and captioned his address “Voter Apathy and the Sanctity of Elections in Nigeria’s Budding Democracy,” provoked the stakeholders to involve citizens especially young people in the next elections.

“Political involvement is fueled by passion. If the citizenry are hopeful, they would vote. We have to turn this hope into action,” Fashola asserted.

The forum concluded on a tone of unity among APC members, as the party leaders promised to work together and restore Tinubu to office and the party to its reign supreme in Lagos and beyond.
