Nigerian singer Naira Marley has revealed that the late Mohbad used his mother-in-law’s bank account for financial transactions, sparking widespread controversy online.
According to reports, Naira Marley disclosed that Mohbad frequently sent money to an account belonging to his wife Wunmi’s mother, Adesanya Justina Olajumoke.
The Marlian Records boss recounted a specific incident from November 6, 2022, when Mohbad requested financial help for medical treatment.
When Naira Marley received the account details, he initially assumed it was Mohbad’s personal account but later discovered it belonged to his mother-in-law.
Despite feeling uncomfortable about the arrangement, he chose not to question it further and proceeded with the transfer.
This revelation has triggered intense debate, particularly among women who criticized the practice.
Many questioned why Mohbad’s money was being channeled through his in-law’s account rather than his own family members.
Some suggested that Wunmi wouldn’t have allowed him to use his relatives’ accounts, while others hinted at possible manipulation.
The controversy gains additional significance given that Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, has previously expressed disapproval of his son’s in-laws.
After Mohbad’s death, his father also revealed that the late artist had purchased property through his mother-in-law.
