Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has released its official 2025/26 fixture list, which begins on Friday, August 22, 2025.
Defending champions Remo Stars will begin the defense of their title in a blockbuster fixture against 2022 champions Rivers United at home in Ikenne a match already billed as an appetizing curtain-raiser.
Remo Stars secured their first NPFL trophy in the last season with 71 points, culminating an historic campaign.
The first half of the season, according to the schedule, shall run for 18 match days before a break during mid-season from 30 December 2025 to 6 January 2026. The mid-season transfer window shall be from 1st January to 30th January 2026, while the 20 clubs battle each other for success.
The campaign will be concluded on Sunday, May 24, 2026, when Remo Stars complete their campaign away at Bendel Insurance. Other climax matches include Rangers International receiving Ikorodu City in Lagos, Plateau United hosting Kano Pillars in Jos, with Rivers United receiving Katsina United.
Meanwhile, the NPFL is working on the introduction of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in a gradual manner and has already started the process of selecting referees for training. Clubs have been directed to bring their stadia up to VAR standards. The governing body of the league is also negotiating with potential broadcast partners ahead of the coming season.
